@enjohnston's piece, "Loving a vanishing world" brings both of these ideas together. We DO NOT need hope, reassurance, confidence in "winning" in order to act. Yet, she invokes RBG: "by our actions & words, we aim at what the world can be, and help other people see it too."
@enjohnston looks at the crisis unflinchingly. She does not reassure. Yet the honesty and bravery of her piece, and her core message, is incredibly hopeful. Highly recommend. Also: I really dislike the New Yorker's clickbait-y, misleading subhead. Such terrible framing. Too late? Too late for what? It makes it seem like @billmckibben and @ElizKolbert believe we should throw up our hands and quit which is patently untrue.

The truly big choices are still in front of us. The difference between the best possible and worst possible outcomes ahead are staggeringly vast.
