I have tremendous respect for @billmckibben and @ElizKolbert — their stories were among the first to tell us about the urgency of the climate and biodiversity crises.
But (especially right now!) we need to tell urgent, hopeful stories about the future.https://www.newyorker.com/news/the-new-yorker-interview/bill-mckibben-and-elizabeth-kolbert-on-the-un-extinction-report?mbid=social_twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_social-type=owned&utm_source=twitter&utm_brand=tny …

@enjohnston looks at the crisis unflinchingly. She does not reassure. Yet the honesty and bravery of her piece, and her core message, is incredibly hopeful. Highly recommend. It may be the best thing I've read in a year or more and that's saying a lot.https://medium.com/@enjohnston/loving-a-vanishing-world-ace33c11fe0 … -
Also: I really dislike the New Yorker's clickbait-y, misleading subhead. Such terrible framing. Too late? Too late for what? It makes it seem like
@billmckibben and@ElizKolbert believe we should throw up our hands and quit which is patently untrue. - 2 more replies
