I'm visiting Seattle & Portland this month. After nine months in Zürich, Antalya, and Antigua, US cities seem weirdly dead. There's so much unused space between everything. Like where even *is* everyone?

A 15 minute walk in Antigua gets me halfway across town, past like 4 earthquake destroyed cathedral ruins, multiple parks, a machine shop, ten tiny stores, four tortillarias, two salsa studios & a dozen restaurants. 15 minutes in Seattle gets me to... the nearest lunch spot.
