It's been a whirlwind week! I am beyond elated 👇 Over 6,100 Amazon employees have now signed their name *publicly* (which is unheard of) asking Bezos and Amazon's board to release a companywide plan that addresses climate change at the scale and urgency it requires.

Thank you to @KYWeise for her excellent reporting. Wed morning 3,500 Amazon employees had signed the letter; later that day the piece got updated to 4,200. We're now over 6,100! That's almost 10% of Amazon's US corporate workforce! #AMZNclimatehttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/10/technology/amazon-climate-change-letter.html?rref=collection%2Fbyline%2Fkaren-weise&action=click&contentCollection=undefined&region=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=2&pgtype=collection …

This is having reverberations across the entire tech sector. I'm hearing from tech workers at other companies who've been inspired by #AMZNclimate Imagine if tech workers from across the tech sector came together for climate action. People are so hungry for this!

"It is rare for tech employees, even some of the most activist ones, to attach their names to public criticism of their employers. While thousands walked out at Google over the company’s handling of sexual harassment claims, for example, few names were connected to the effort."

Now, over 6,100: "This week, more than 4,200 Amazon employees called on the company to rethink how it addresses and contributes to a warming planet. The action is the largest employee-driven movement on climate change to take place in the influential tech industry.: -@KYWeise

Emily Cunningham Retweeted Mary Annaïse Heglar

I quoted this tweet from @MaryHeglar when I was, along with many many others, asking Amazon employees to sign our open letter on climate change. 6,100 have now signed. Huge gratitude for her words and writing.https://twitter.com/MaryHeglar/status/1087380533456371712 …

      Emily Cunningham added,

      Mary Annaïse Heglar @MaryHeglar
If we really care about the climate crisis, it's critical that we listen to the voices on the margins, the communities on the frontlines. Why? Because the people closest to the pain can always be trusted to be closest to the solution.

Here's the public letter. It was a collaborative, group writing effort that took many, many long hours, lots of discussion and reviews with many people. I'm proud of how it turned out. It has definitely resonated with employees :) #AMZNclimatehttps://medium.com/@amazonemployeesclimatejustice/public-letter-to-jeff-bezos-and-the-amazon-board-of-directors-82a8405f5e38 …
