Yeah, this is different than her AIPAC and it’s all about the benjamins comments. From Politico, “the resolution...comes after a backlash from top Democrats who accused Omar of anti-Semitism for referring to pro-Israel advocates’ “allegiance to a foreign country.”

gotcha. i looked it up after you tweeted too and figured it out. i feel you for sure, but there just has to be a better way to handle this than this. especially when they didn't similarly respond to any of the white nationalist sentiments over the last year in the same way.

I was really impressed how Omar apologized and engaged following her benjamins/AIPAC comments. The racism and Islamophobia she faces is so ugly. I don’t understand the ins/outs of House rules and don’t know if they didn’t bring it up because they weren’t in the majority or

...if they didn’t have the votes to censure a Republican and only for a fellow Democrat? But I apsolutely agree the President and other GOPs Congress have said much worse and that she’s being targeted as a Muslim WOC. That said, we also need a space to call her in on antisemitism

agreed. also, we need to be able to critique israel without it being considered anti-semitic. (it seems like here though, her language was the issue.) but yes, she's already being attacked and having her family threatened, so why do this and make them even more vulnerable?

Yes, criticism of Israel is necessary, but it’s important how it’s done to not feed into antisemitism awarely or unawarely. I didn’t read the House statement, but it needed to address ALL the antisemitism in Congress and not focus solely on Omar which is wrong and has everyone...

...rightfully upset. Thanks for engaging. Antisemitism is on the rise as are so many other oppressions and I think it’s good to talk about how they’re all connected. White nationalism and anrisemitism are so woven together.
