She apologized precisely because of the disproporionate power of this lobby. She shouldn't have had to.

I think more of Omar. She’s an incredible leader. She apologized because like all of us, she is learning and growing. We shouldn’t confront antiSemitism because we’re afraid of wedge attacks, we should confront it because we are a stronger movement for inclusive democracy for it

AIPAC Is a destructive lobby group with a disproportionate amount of power and influence. I think well of Omar too, and what she said NOT antisemitic. It was honest. I wish she'd been rewarded for that honesty rather than castigated.

Her apology pointed at an important direction: lobbies, in general, are problematic. There is danger in singling out Jewish control over our politics because unfortunately many people hear Jew when they hear AIPAC.

It’s fine to criticize AIPAC, but in context, and with acknowledgment that antisemetic tropes around Jewish control (of banks, of media, of government) has been used to devastating effects.

So she has to add an extra disclaimer in this case of making a factual statement about a pro-Israel lobby because some people may infer she is repeating stereotypes about Jews?
