Ok, real talk. I was a fan of Beto O’Rourke, swooned over his speeches, until learning: 1. He is the #2 recipient of oil/gas industry campaign cash in the entire Congress 2. His actual voting record, which boosted the fossil fuel industry and Trump’s immigration policy

I also suspect that shooting down anyone who's not a pristine candidate is a sure fire way to make sure Trump gets a second term. I doubt I'll ever meet anyone who aligns 100% with ALL of my beliefs, so I'll be going with the best person who can actually win.

I’ll eagerly vote for Beto if he’s our candidate. Like you, I’m just beginning to learn more about potential 2020 candidates, but I want us to go in with eyes wide open and fighting for the candidate who will fight for the world I want and love. I like Harris a whole lot. So far.

I'm certainly not trying to sway anyone either way on Beto O'rourke. I doubt I'll form a real opinion about him until I see a lot more. I just suspect that rejecting ALL support from folks employed by big oil in Texas probably isn't feasible.

Agreed. But that wasn’t what I was arguing. He broke his No Fossil Fuel Pledge, and voted in ways that bolstered the fossil fuel industry. That’s deeply concerning when the climate crisis is the number one issue facing humanity, and is so incredibly urgent.
