For we're celebrating the engineers who work tirelessly to bring these ecosystems back to Scotland. As beavers build their dams they create life-giving, carbon-storing, flood-mitigating, drought-saving, water-filtering wetlands. And they do all that for free!

I hope you reminded him that much of India & China's come from countries like ours outsourcing their scope 3 emissions to places with terrible labour & standards so we can get cheap products to satiate our hunger for consumerism? We are culpable too

There is no two ways about it. Beavers should 100% be returned to British waterways. Their services in habitat creation, flood prevention, river restoration and biodiversity outmatch anything that humans have tried to do throughout Beaver's unnatural absence.

This beautiful and informative film is a great introduction to understanding "why matter". Wetland ecologist Mark focusses on the beavers' introduction to a 2.8 ha plot in 2011, which is now estimated to store 650K litres of water!

Great to see best practice from one of our fencing contractors, Luke Aplin, who was lucky enough to see these otters pass by whilst on one of the farms we work on. He kept his dogs completely calm & under control, so the wildlife moment could be enjoyed by all 🎥Hannah Giles

I was asked at the excellent Landscape Innovation Conference where to in . One answer is Haven. It's not sustainable to keep bulldozing shingle to maintain status quo here - emitting carbon, when coastal realignment would sequester it.

A year ago we built a series of imitation beaver dams. They've done a great job holding water, improving habitat diversity and raising bed levels, but already without actual beavers they are shading over and will lose life. We can't compete!

A better call would be to double woodland CREATION. (or x 3, 4, 10 or 100) Natural regeneration is a. often much quicker b. much cheaper c. creates better structure and complexity d. introduces fewer tree diseases e. involves less plastic than planting.
