Yes. However I like to think there was still a fragment of it clinging on Shalamayne tho. I refuse to believe that the Varian appearing in the Memento questline cinematic isn't really him and just a fake vision ahah. He seemed at peace and that was good to see

I'd say its more of an echo of his soul: memories, moments... stored in it. After all Anduin heard something Varian had said before.
