We talked to a dozen patient families. What we heard was sheer desperation. Some could only watch their beloved one die at home. Some patients had to walk hours to the hospital. Some patients had to wait in the hospital for 14 hours. The words came up most are 等 and 没办法。

I interviewed Doctor Li Wenliang who was lying in his sickbed via text messages. I hope his braveness can touch more people around the world. As a chinese saying goes, we can’t let those carrying the firewood for the group freeze in the snowstorm. 为众人抱薪者,不可使其冻毙于风雪

It’s rare to be spotted on the street by a reader. Even rarer, and more special, when it’s on the grim streets of Wuhan. Wang Yu, a teacher here, said he’s been following the international coverage of the crisis. He had a very simple message: pay attention, work together.

A little story to show why I love my job. I met Qiu Dongjun, a building worker in Wuhan from rural Hubei. He’s living lon instant noodles and tinned porridge. After we spoke, he walked off but then ran back shouting. Do I want one of his tins of porridge, he wanted to know.

On , as soon as the govt loosened info censorship, Chinese media such as Caixin & Beijing News新京报 have had the best coverage, way more in-depth and ahead of any int outlets. Imagine how vibrant the Chinese media scene would be if only there's no censorship.

Kids are great. But being a mother in China is way scarier than being a father as most of the work will fell on the shoulder of the mother and there is even a phrase for it that is called "Raise a child like a widow" (丧偶式育儿) to describe how little man does.

Ever since I heard that seniors were hooking up in parks in China, I have been dying to do the story. I went out this fall to a park in Beijing and was charmed and delighted by many of them.
