Falcon Heavy Center core curse continues... It looks to me like it full blown took off sideways... which MIGHT mean one of the outer engines could have shut down early and then pitched it over sideways... is that correct @elonmusk ? Next time!!!

Why the last-minute change from close to shore to so far downrange?
-
High payload/delta-V missions will always be far downrange. Value of boost stage is measured (essentially) by *horizontal* velocity imparted to upper stage. Altitude is almost unimportant.

I suspect the suicide burn was done too aggressively? Wouldn't surprise me if it overcompensated and needed to auto-abort.
@elonmusk - What is the system in place if the suicide burn is completed too early? As far as I recall, minimum thrust is still much too high to hover? -
That does seem like what could’ve happened. It was an interesting RUD though!!! Dang it! They’ll get it soon. Such an amazing mission!

The mission was a success. The centre core would have only been the cherry on the cake. Must be depressing to live with you.
