From 2003-07, ~3T miles/yr were driven in the US, w/ 287K vehicle fires/yr -> ~96 fires per billion miles/yr. Teslas have driven 10B miles, so you'd expect ~960 Tesla fires to have occurred. Actual incidence is *FAR* lower, <20 to my knowledge, or 2/Bn miles/yr, 1/48th of ICE.
I think 14 tesla car fires have occurred so far since 2012.
That's around 1 fire per 100,000 ICE cars. Now do Tesla.
