Design requires at least 170 metric tons of force. Engine reached 172 mT & 257 bar chamber pressure with warm propellant, which means 10% to 20% more with deep cryo.

Are you considering an extendable nozzle for Raptor at any time? Would love to see a nozzle that could extend during flight to provide extra ISP!

Yes, aiming for 380 sec Isp with vac nozzle. Maybe 382 if we get lucky.

What cost per engine will you achieve, given similar comparison to Merlin? How many Raptors could you make per year given similar resources as you currently use for Merlin?

This will sound implausible, but I think there’s a path to build Starship / Super Heavy for less than Falcon 9

Very dependent on volume, but I’m confident moving to Mars (return ticket is free) will one day cost less than $500k & maybe even below $100k. Low enough that most people in advanced economies could sell their home on Earth & move to Mars if they want.

Is SpaceX currently working on habitat and life support systems, fuel plant etc... or is that going to be subcontracted? Keep up the awesome work, can’t wait to see crew dragon fly and the start of hopper tests!

Good questions, would love to know how much SpaceX is involved in the plans for colonization. Is a new company being formed to work on the R&D needed for building a city on Mars?

There won't be jobs on Mars for a while at first, just a whole lot of hard work staying alive. I expect the first folks to go would be multi-talented like engineer/doctor, biologist/mechanic, geologist/gardener. The more skills packed into the first colonists to Mars, the better!

Wow. That's awesome! But do you believe Space Tours to see Earth from Space then come back, will ever be below 30k in my lifetime (I am 25) ? All I desire is to see Earth from space & return with a heart full of happiness.

Kinda' like a visit to the ISS ! 🚀 A cool Space Tour would be if flight tickets could be cheaper than 30k and that #Starship could take 100 people to orbit Earth for a few hours, then come back.
