I think a lot of people talking about "refresh" refer to DESIGN refreshes, which Tesla has done in the past (Model S 2016), and not necessarily hardware improvements.

Just did that to correct the front design esthetic of Model S. The nose of an electric car shouldn’t look like a radiator grill opening.
-
I agree. But there were also other changes introduced at the same time like headlights, rear diffuser, etc.
-
Only thing almost anyone would notice is the nose

You must admit the interior fit and finish became 1000x better as well. It felt less plasticky, the squeaks and rattles were gone, and the S and X took on the feel of a true modern luxury car, even without the Premium interior!
-
There have been hundreds of improvements to fit & finish over the years, but no major step change in this regard. Seats, especially, are dramatically better now than in the past.
-
I feel like the newest Tesla seats have been especially designed for me. Big fan.

So what happens to the people who already bought Tesla’s? Their Tesla is now worse than newer Tesla’s?

So what happens to the people who already bough Ford’s? Their Ford is now worse than new Ford’s?
-
But what Elon is saying is that companies like Ford do yearly models. Every yearly model is identical. But, it sounds like Elon is also saying that Tesla’s manufactured next week are better than last weeks?
-
Yeah, it’s the same thing as other car companies just condensed to a weekly basis. If you don’t keep up with Ford’s production schedule you might buy a 2019 a week before the 2020 model releases. You’ll get a good car but maybe a week later there will be another .1% better.
-
I guess there’s a valid point there. At the end of the day, the hardware in a Tesla is incredible and will be for years to come.
-
Don't forget once you buy Ford it never gets better. A 2013 Tesla still gets software upgrades and improves. Look at a Ford from 2013.
