@elonmusk How about a "nudge" mode when in autosteer to allow driver to dodge potholes? Maybe use the scroll wheels together?

Would also be good for passing wide vehicles, and those closer to the edge of their lane.

Autopilot will actually move over if the car gets to close, but I agree, I would like it to move over sooner

Used to be able to carefully nudge Hardware 1 Autopilot using the steering wheel to make more space for lane splitting motorcycles... disengages too easily to do it now.

V9 seems to have made it a lot easy to disengage, I don’t like that. I know it changes based on the confidence of the system, but it’s now too easy in my opinion.

Wasn't being v9 specific, as it's been more than a year (maybe 2?) since you could easily nudge HW1. Easy disengage does smooth the transition (upsets car less) which is important from a vehicle control & safety standpoint, though. Engineering is all about trades.

I just feel like on turns and what not, mirroring the wheel makes it take over where I could do that in V8.1 and it didn’t take over as easily. Yeah, engineering is all about trade, fortunately and unfortunately I know that all too well 😊

In the future, humans will communicate via neural-interfaces connected by a Cloudnet, which if not regulated properly, will be used to predictively manipulate people by running mind-data (billions of sent thoughts) through an AI that'll analyze behaviorial patterns.

Yes, this would be fantastic! Hate having Autopilot disengage any time you need to make small adjustments. Recommend checking out how Volvo system lets you override but stays engaged when you stop providing input.

Yeah, I like that idea. Autopilot by default, but it temporarily disengages when you steer. Back on autopilot as soon as you release the wheel, though autopilot needs some more work before this would be at all smooth or reliable enough

Autopilot is pretty good already. I dislike the harsh sound and usual snap out of AP, then have to reactivate, all just because I adjusted a little for whatever. Could be much smoother and quieter and remain in AP even if you need to take over a little. But won't matter with FSD!

Would be cool if the nudge allowed you to choose to hold the right or left side of the lane.

I still think making maps interactive like waze does. they have a section to report hazards like potholes, and I have avoided some nasty potholes with using waze.... and of course the other reports like police ahead etc... are cool features.
