No, it's not. We already have all of the hardware necessary for FSD. Since 2016. Read this, Elon: https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now-have-full-self-driving-hardware …pic.twitter.com/RM60lTTnxa
This, right here, is why Elizabeth Holmes is going to jail.
Shh. No one ask him questions, Elon gotta like sleep
When I purchased my car in 10/16, it was claimed that it shipped with hardware capable of FSD. How can you justify a hardware upgrade as part of the cost? Isn't this just opening the door to another CA suit? I thought I already paid for the hardware.
If you paid for FSD then you will get the upgraded hardware at no extra cost. That seems more than fair.

Am I the only one who says 'Good job!' and sometimes claps for their car when it pulls off a previously tricky spot of road? It's fascinating to watch it 'learn'. I'd like to understand better how this works.
Will the functionality between EAP and FSD enabled cars diverge over time before the full self driving features are complete? If so, when will that start to happen?
When we see cars sliding back and forth on the visualization, is it because different cameras are being used and the software is weighing which image is "right"? I wonder if this will improve over time as the NN develops further.
Would we be able to play our mame ROMs in the future thru the USB port? Maybe allow a Bluetooth or USB game controller?
Update on Starlink and Neuralink?
Neuralink . On joe rogan show he mentioned they will announce something in upcoming months. Otherwise no news.

Any consideration as to split Auto Pilot to Full Self Driving into three groups. An entry level tier with Adaptive Cruise would be a nice start. My dad is awaiting a base level 3 and this would probably get him to go down the Auto Pilot path as it would on my LR RWD 3. Thanks
$TSLA is years behind. In 2017, Waymo had 1 disengage for every 5,596 mi. GM Cruise had 1 disengage for every ~1,254 mi.
#Tesla's Level 2 "Autopilot" is a sham, disengage rate is ABYSMAL, even Mobileye quit b/c you are a liar and a joke.https://www.theverge.com/2018/1/31/16956902/california-dmv-self-driving-car-disengagement-2017 …
1/ Excellent question! Very telling that $TSLA no longer publicly releases their disengagement rates. Last release was for 2016, with a #Tesla rate of 330.9 disengagements/1,000 mi. vs. Waymo at 0.3 disengagements/1,000 mi.https://www.forbes.com/sites/alanohnsman/2017/02/01/tesla-has-little-to-show-in-californias-tally-of-autonomous-car-test-data …
2/ Some recent anecdotal evidence that disengagements are still obscenely high showing that $TSLA "Autopilot" is still a beta system that puts people's lives in danger:

3/ Finally, this has been little noticed by others, but MIT has just published a paper on experimenting with $TSLA "Autopilot"... https://arxiv.org/pdf/1710.04459.pdf …
4/ Key paragraph shows 6,500 disengagements after 420 (!) hours of testing. If we generously assume average speed of 55 MPH, that's 23,100 mi, meaning ~281 disengagements/1,000 mi. Maybe improved from 2016, but still ABYSMAL compared with Waymo in 2016! FIN @TeslaCharts $TSLApic.twitter.com/L77RUci8cd
