Cool! Have you guys decided on pricing for those who *didn't* order full self-driving?
I believe it’s $5k
Elon, you began selling "full self-driving" vaporware in Fall 2016. When can customers get their money back, or will full self-driving always be just around the corner? You also said your cars would drive from LA to NYC autonomously by the end of 2017.pic.twitter.com/YUTtCRMlUU
Aw hell, leave him alone. He’s busy eating pumpkin pies and boring a tunnel in Chicago. It’ll be finished this fall. Come on out for a ride!
What about those who have EAP and order FSD (like post delivery)? Would the new chip come with the FSD upgrade? Or be a separate thing
The FSD upgrade is the Tesla computer with our NN chip
No, it's not. We already have all of the hardware necessary for FSD. Since 2016. Read this, Elon: https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now-have-full-self-driving-hardware …pic.twitter.com/RM60lTTnxa
This, right here, is why Elizabeth Holmes is going to jail.
Will this be expedited for those of us that purchased FSD from the beginning? I'm very excited to see what new features are brought.
LOL, this new computer is not needed. All $TSLA cars currently produced have everything necessary for FSD!https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now-have-full-self-driving-hardware …
Still waiting to be called up for the replacement of potent. corroded screws that could affect steering in my Model S. That recall was announced in March, still no word from Tesla support though.Leads me to believe the replacement of autopilot also to be a matter of (many) months
The recall replacement was done as part of my yearly service this September.
Great, thanks for the info
Will there ever be an upgrade path for an AP1 model S? would be a shame to leave a perfectly good car in a tech dead-end.
He did mention this before, essentially the cost of upgrading AP1 cars would extremely labour intensive and so expensive that it's cheaper to just buy a newer car.
Given the durability of the cars, could a Tesla owner essentially replace their battery or upgrade them every few years? Basically as batteries are more energy efficient and have increased storage space can owners of older models replace their old batteries with upgraded versions
No need, the battery and car are long-lasting.
I understand that there is durability. But say that battery range is extended to 400 miles on newer batteries. Can I just replace my old battery in my current car? Or do I need to buy a new Tesla.
Yes, in any EV. Even Tesla changes early production malfunctioned batteries with no probl. And often they are 60kWh, changing it with 75.
Not necessarily. Model 3 batteries aren't designed to be easily swapped out like the Model S and X. Recall Battery Swap stations were something Tesla explored before the viability of SuperChargers was proven.
That's interesting. Could you link me or explain to me how you know? I'd assume that if the S and X are capable then the 3 battery would also be replaceable by future battery models created for it.
"Tesla didn’t make the Model 3 battery pack to be easily swappable. There are bolts, which are only accessible by removing trims from the interior of the car, that need to be removed in order to eject the pack."https://electrek.co/2017/08/24/tesla-model-3-exclusive-battery-pack-architecture/ …
