As a teenage in the early 70s, I made a computer using a bag of nails and Bell wire. I made them into electromagnets, two of which would toggle a single bit of 'memory'. It had 200 bits of 'static' RAM. I used a motorized coffee can wrapped in a paper roll to execute 'commands'.

Each memory bit worked like an common electric relay switch but I knew I'd need dozens of then so I made my own electromagnets by wrapping a nail with Bell wire. I put a rocker with a switch between 2 electromagnets to register a '1' or '0' depending on which electromagnet fired.

Quantum. Everything is counted by where it probably is. Most of the time. Unless it isn’t. But that’s also accounted for.

#TuringTumble finally lets kids see and feel how computers work. The logic isn’t hidden inside a computer chip – it’s all right there in front of them. It builds logic and critical thinking skills, fundamental coding concepts, and grounds their understanding of computers. pic.twitter.com/BTJlyLE8V4
