It's absurd that Elon Musk (a parent, himself) and his team designing something to potentially save children and a young adult could be a point of contention. Thankfully the capsule wasn't needed; the kids and coach were strong and brave enough to be guided out without it.

The divers themselves requested the capsule in case the floods came early. Luckily they didn't need it, but they were smart to have a backup plan just in case. They also requested a similar design from a local firm, but that one didn't make it beyond prototype $TSLA

THIS. Why, why, why...try and do anything but celebrate the effort and drive of everyone who took positive action to save lives? I’ve been in the rescue/life saving business for over 20 years. If you’re not cheering @elonmusk & his team, you’re just a fool hocking ad space.

Even if they didn’t end up needing the product created on this rescue...it is efforts like this that end up being the life saving tools of tomorrow. I’d work for free on that team or one that capable for the opportunity to change emergency response for the better worldwide.

Uh, OK, he’s not the diving expert; but how is he not the “rescue chief”? Was he not the person who made the executive decision to perform the rescue operation?

Doesn't matter if he was, or is at the time, governor. What seems clear is that he was the rescue operation's chief decision maker, i.e. the buck stops with him, especially if something goes wrong. Just like it does with a company's CEO, not one of the lead engineers.

No dude one of the co-lead in rescue mission asked elon to built sub. Calling it worthless is little bit insulting. If this failed he is putting his men at risk. Ur comparison also sucks. When divers or seals on mission usually their CO's ass on line not some bureaucrat or POTUS.

It was the lead diver, someone who was obviously critical to the mission but not the *decision maker* on when and how the rescue operation should be done. That's the relevant difference between the rescue chief and lead diver.

Offcourse lead organizer has more knowledge about deadly cave rescue mission than its co lead who actually went inside. What ever dude.

Sorry, lead diver doesn't make the call. I like Jerry Bruckheimer films too but I know real life is more complicated than that.

The Lead Diver and Governor will establish a strong trust relationship. For sure Governor will listen carefully the Lead Diver who is the dive rescue expert. But the Governor can double check or commit the decisions made and then make it public. He will also cheer everybody up.
