Socialism vs capitalism is not even the right question. What really matters is avoiding monopolies that restrict people’s freedom.

Except that government is ostensibly intended to serve the public, and does not need have a fiduciary duty to generate "profit" for a small number of people. The profit motive is really great for some things, and really, really awful/counterproductive for other things.

Everyone has an equal opportunity but forced equal outcome should be avoided at all costs. Almost any system can work here if we put nationalism & protectionism first Then, social safety nets can be in place. Wages can never substantially increase while mass immigration persists

Wealth actually leads to very little consumption. You and Bezos may be exceptions. Rather it is a rapid accrual of capital vs consumption. Which makes gop tax cuts so insidiously bad policy when peeps can't or won't distinguish between the two. Keynesian multiplier says as much.pic.twitter.com/rtXmhmrcmc

If you’re controlling wealth as labor allocation then you are in the perfect position to exploit and accumulate surplus labor from employees vis a vis this Marx guy you brought up
-
And in perfect position to affect change in a capitalistic and consumer-driven society. Is your point solely that anyone in charge of labor allocation is exploitive by default?
-
Yeah that is the Marxist position. Look it was Musk who brought up Marx

Corporations are authoritarian structure. Government is democratic. They solve completely different problems, and some problems (healthcare, education, defense) are not well suited to private enterprise

Then why are some of the best schools and hospitals private entities?
-
then why are some of the best schools/hospitals public entities? the NHS is enviable. i wish we had a system like this in the states. i don't want to worry about my $60k MS medication to suddenly becoming all my problem because politicians and phrma had a good game of golf

Why do foreigners come to have surgical procedures done in the US?
-
We are losing this destination status slowly to Malaysia, Thailand & others. US high medical cost resulting from gov't meddling.http://www.medicaltourismmag.com/top-10-medical-tourism-destinations-world/ …

it's the implementation that's bad. the public-private partnerships that conservatives and centrist democrats only breed corruption and high prices. we need a nationalized healthcare system. or at least medicare for all. it would be simpler, cheaper, and largest pool possible.
-
every other developed country does socialized healthcare in some form. we would still have the same doctors and nurses. all we have to lose are the preventable bankruptcies from medical costs! eat the rich~
-
Wake up. This nation is great because of the rich. Because of equal opportunity, not equal outcome.
