Whatever Musk does next, and whatever impulse decision is walked back on, the damage to Twitter has been done, and anything I would’ve posted here will now be posted on Mastodon instead. Hope to see you there!
You can find me as “elliotjaystocks” there (and everywhere else). 👋

But he also scored some very non-Lynch-y films, too, such as my favourite Christmas movie of all time... National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. (Yes!)

RIP, Angelo Badalamenti. A true master.
He first came to my attention through his music for (of course) David Lynch’s films — first, Lost Highway, then I moved backwards to Twin Peaks, etc. Everything Lynch has ever done owes so much to A.B.’s scores.

If you’ve had kids and your kids are no longer babies, have the Kleenex ready while you read the lyrics to ’s “Daydreaming”. Some perfectly articulated moments of early parenting in there in that wonderful little pop song.

When and I were running , we made a bunch of seasonal playlists. Our “Lagom Christmas Playlist 2016” is still one of my favourites, and we play it around the house a lot at this time of year.

[9/11] A new article by yours truly, called “How to make type feel authentic”, about overcoming repetition in type. Like when posters have supposedly ‘distressed’ type, except that every letter is distressed in the same place? That stuff drives me mad. fonts.google.com/knowledge/usin

Reflecting on last night’s gig. Easily the best live music in a while, and it’s reignited my interest in making more guitar-based music again.
Also, we got Rob to sign the vinyl edition of ‘Almanac’ and discovered that Molly was responsible for the typography. 🤯

Mastodon right now feels like the early days of Twitter, and I like that. It’s all folks I know — mainly web conference buddies — and it’s cosy. Personally, I’m not sure it’ll ever reach critical mass, which is, of course, a good thing and a bad thing. But let’s see.

But no, I’m not a fan of Musk or what he’s doing to Twitter staff, and “the good ol’ days” are long gone. Somehow, I’ve managed to avoid the dregs of humanity on here (that’s on Facebook, isn’t it? And worse, because they’re our relatives?), but yeah I miss what Twitter once was.
