Settle an argument: is Alien a horror film? Give reasons why pls
-
-
Because then it’s sci-fi?

Yes. Horror is predicated on the fear of the other, the unfamiliar in the world as we know it – space, we already don't know it

Hard disagree. Space can serve as nothing more than an isolated setting, no different than a ship at sea or an Antarctic outpost.

Why would Alien *not* be a horror film but The Thing - which also features an alien, and is set in almost equally inhospitable environment, but in Earth - be horror?
