'Some literary collective nouns.' (my cartoon for yesterday's )

    Title: Some literary collective nouns.
Image shows eight groups of figured labelled: A chapter of novelists. A draft of editors. A recommendation of booksellers. An autopsy of critics. A stanza of poets. A borrowing of librarians. A blurb of publicists. A gruop of proofreaders.

I ❤️heart this so much as someone with an environmental illness. I have also found support groups may have more up to date information (crowd sourcing!) than many doctors, and members have more time to *read* the current medical journals than clinicians. PubMed rocks.

Science and democracy are strongly interlinked - as they are both built on freedom of speech, independence, facts and transparency. If you don’t respect democracy then you probably won’t respect science. And if you don’t respect science then you probably won’t respect democracy.

Throwback. I made this hand-cranked Heron long ago when studying mechanical movement and automata. I drew a lot of inspiration from brilliant artists like the late Keith Newstead of Cabaret Mechanical Theater fame. A dear, dear man.

Thank you! I would be nowhere without the women whose footsteps I dance in. While reciting my poem, I wore a ring with a caged bird—a gift from for the occasion , to symbolize Maya Angelou, a previous inaugural poet. Here’s to the women who have climbed my hills before.

It was an honor to speak with the Biden Inaugural Committee about Lincoln's second inauguration, another time of national crisis but also hope for a better future. Looking forward to an administration that cares about history and respects historians!

The amount of anxiety our bodies went thru in 2020 is unmatched. And it continues. Please find a way to decrease your output in some way. Demand moments of rest for yourself. Sleep more.
