Hi Elise, did you shoot this video yourself?
-
This video was taken by a fellow neighbor who was also there. I was too scared to be there during a theft so I left. Scared things might escalate. I’m sharing because I’m outraged I can’t even go to my local corner store without fear.

Prop 47 made that theft a misdemeanor even if the suspect had numerous prior arrests and convictions. At most he would receive a ticket and the da would drop the charges.
-
You’re right. The voters enabled this through bad legislation that needs to be amended or repealed. And most importantly — the DA needs to start prosecuting!

See this all the time, pretty soon all the drugstores will close if this goes on. Thieves holler at the security guards, “you can’t touch me!” Waiting for the day the mayor announces that they are doing something about this but not holding my breath.

First,
@chesaboudin does not control the police response. If SFPD refuses to show up, that’s their decision. Secondly, this is terrible but not dangerous. I used to work retail and we were trained to let thieves leave and call the police later. Escalation CAN make it dangerous.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Yet we are funding
@SFPD officers their six-figure salaries. Nothing gets accomplished, it's a joke!!!Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
