I am fighting (and losing) a battle with Japanese beetles in my garden this summer. They really, really like my bean plants.

If this were possible, Montcalm County in its current agitated state might be able to fully power the state of Michigan ⚡️

The Douglass Township Board on Wednesday, at the recommendation of its Planning Commission, voted 5-0 to extend the township’s wind energy moratorium for a full year — into August 2022. Many of the more than 80 people in attendance applauded the vote:

Interesting article about a proposed Michigan wind turbine project. However, "The project, proposed by Royal Oak-based Circle Power, would include 12,575-foot turbines" ... ... pretty sure there's an unnecessary comma in there. Commas matter, people! 😉

I'd say the undersheriff pretty well already summed up the unofficial position on wind! (also, I just spent way too long trying and failing to find a gif for "It's off the record, on the QT and very hush-hush" ... there should be way more L.A. Confidential gifs on this website)

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners in a third of a series of budget meetings Monday tentatively approved wage increases for the prosecutor and several others ... but declined to even vote on a similar request from the sheriff:

'OFF THE CUFF' COMMENT: The Montcalm County sheriff has clarified that his office is neutral on the subject of wind energy and wind turbines (after his undersheriff said otherwise):

A short and otherwise unremarkable Cato Twp Board meeting ended in a bit of an uproar Monday after the supervisor made an unexpected declaration, upsetting some audience members. “There’s gonna be turbines,” Larry Gilbert said. “They’re gonna be here":

The bond will see the CC-C school district generate approximately $5.65 million in revenue from the wind turbines in neighboring Gratiot County.

Other positions in the Sheriff's Office's in other countries make less than Montcalm. I find it interesting that Admin makes quite a bit more and yet County Board's don't want to give raises for lower position's in those other county(s).

Montcalm County Sheriff in his request for wage increases for himself, undersheriff & jail admin, provided BOC with a list of comparables in other counties (see attached). However, commissioners declined to vote on his request. Story in Wednesday's Daily News.

The best part about this story? The guy caught the alligator by using a regular fishing pole and rubber frog bait from his garage. "He fought pretty good for a little bit. It was a lot better of a fight than a bluegill, I’d say, for sure."

Woke up today with a news tip from someone saying an alligator was captured in a lagoon in Stanton, Michigan, on Sunday. Immediately thought it was fake. Looked into it and, nope, turns out it really happened. Here's the full story.

... • Approved wage increases for clerk ($7,000) and prosecutor ($10,000). • Approved wage increase for District Court deputy admin/magistrate ($2,500), but not the $9,800 raise requested for District Court admin/magistrate (did a reduced $4,000 raise instead) ...

TENTATIVE takeaways from today’s meeting: • BOC approved all sheriff’s office equipment asks to come out of law enforcement millage (not general fund). • BOC didn't vote on sheriff's request for pay increases for sheriff & 3 officials (other than 2% raise they will receive) ...
