The logo is a stereotype. It is a false representation. You know as well as I do that each sovereign Nation has it's own cultures. Mascots/logos teach the country we're monolithic, erasing our tribal identities & making our struggle for self determination harder.
That’s your opinion. We’re all entitled to them and I do appreciate having a respectful discussion. I researched the origin of the logo design and disagree. I believe there are more important issues that face our native communities then a logo designed by Native Americans.
*Leaders from various tribes. And to your point the logo does not represent neither of my tribal affiliations but I’m not offended by the generalization. Hence the term Native American, American Indian, First Nations generalizes all of us and presents the same issue.
Which is why I make it a point to tell people I'm Mvskoke Creek and Seminole and that I prefer to referred to as such. We must fight define ourselves in a world that would have us erased via generalizations. Mascots/logos make that harder.
