Did you read the article? Crime rate in SF is actually down. You just FEEL unsafe. Probably due to too much time spent on Nextdoor or the like.

that's not what it said. property crimes are up 40%, and robberies/car thefts are also up dramatically. violent crimes are down because, guess what, we are in a pandemic with fewer people going out and gathering! so of course there's less violence if everyone is locked inside.

secondly, the DA is reducing charges for many crimes. meaning if someone is arrested for burglary, and the DA decides to charge for a lesser crime, it's recorded statistically as a non-burglary. just because the numbers are being forged doesn't mean crime isn't up.
