Assume for a sec that the US is in the midst of a constitutional crisis (it is). Notice how the stores are still open, your bus completed its usual route & the game still on? That’s what makes genuine crises terrifying, bc they (co)exist for so long within our normal exp of life.

Is it a conflict of interest for Trump to promote one of his private businesses as "beautiful" speaking in his capacity as president? Obviously. Read on all the times Trump and his admin have boosted the Trump brand while in office

These admissions are long overdue. There's a class of journalists who, although legendary, put their fear of being branded as biased and non-objective over the ideals of the profession. And it help lead us to where we are

Today, a Myanmar court sentenced our colleagues Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo to seven years in jail. Why? For committing good, brave journalism and exposing the massacre detailed in this story. Please share this work so the truth cannot be silenced:

This, incidentally, is part of what still interests me in the Zarrab case, and why it’s still relevant. There, Giuliani tried to kill a case involving a Turkish corrupt shadow economy. The same cast of characters pop up where vast, secret flows of money undermine democracy.

NEW, by me: Newsmax owner and Trump confident Chris Ruddy denied trying to sell the right-wing outlet to Qatar, but his dozens of calls and texts to a Qatari representative suggest otherwise

Good morning! I'd like to talk about feels and their limits. Today's story is about "dialogue" -- the notion that we can solve America's problems by talking it out. Our players are , purveyor of feel-good videos, and a guy who threatened to assault and stalk me. /1

Guys, this is BAD. When we allow public servants to forego a salary, that raises the expectation that they will. And that, in turn, privileges candidates who can afford to.

Stumbled upon this US diplomatic cable from 2003 giving a (surprisingly?) critical and well-informed background of Erdoğan's mayoral experience, including "an extensive pattern of corruption."
