    Any China take can be instantly improved by replacing "the Chinese” with "the Party", "PRC leaders", "Party-state leadership" etc. Obviously, it's usually said as second nature but we should still be careful of the implications of painting with such a wide brush.

    On the Huawei matter, I was on the fence, as I didn't know enough about 5G technology. But since they denied they will obey CCP directive, I know then that they're lying. And why would you trust such an obvious lie? At least be more subtle.

    It feels silly, but one of the stories I was quoted in was picked up by Haaretz, and seeing my name in the news in Hebrew is making me feel some kinda way. Shoutout to diaspora kids who are named in languages we can't speak, but wish we could. H/t ty for making my day

    Wondering how (if at all) PRC is media is covering Trump's impeachment. On one hand it shows the dysfunctional side of democratic systems, but on the other hand it might give people some funny ideas about leaders being accountable to their citizens.

    Great vocabulary (courtesy of ) that rather aptly encapsulates the state of U.S.-China relations: 缠斗 — "fighting while embracing,” or perhaps "struggling while entangled" would be my preference for rendering it, since it's hardly a warm embrace.
