There was no justifiable reason to discharge a firearm in a busy parking lot for the purpose of stopping an unarmed drunk guy from running away with your taser. Period.

No, they walked out because it was way over charged. They also know darn good and well they have targets on their back, and the city would throw a death penalty charge at them if they practiced lethal self defense. No one can work under those circumstances. It would be suicide.
