I ended all contact with my dad a few days ago when he shared an article about "white lives matters too". Already thinking about how im gonna explain that for my child when she's older
-
tell her that just because you’re blood related to someone doesn’t mean you have to put up with them. tell her that he devalued the rights of people who deserve the same rights as white people, and that you didn’t stand for it. hopefully she will understand as she gets older.

That last sentence gives me hope though. Putting everything into perspective, if Emmet Till wasn’t lynched at 14 he’d be Joe Biden’s age. All of these huge movements we learned about growing up were really not that long ago. This has to stop.

we learn from our parents mistakes. we either emulate them or go against them. i'm proud to be out there speaking up. silence is violence.

yall helped me change my parents minds! i even convinced my mom to start saying black lives matter instead of all lives! the house on fire analogy really broke through to her. WE’RE CHANGING PEOPLE, KEEP GOING!

I explained it to my grandma bc all she would see would be the news and the news only shows the violence. I showed her what really happened! She even said we should use water guns on the officers
