Or better than tossing back & risking a wild pitch, invest in water-tight heat-resistant bags large enough to handle the local gas cannisters *like a scuba dive accessory bag*. Fill the bag before hand with water. Grab the cannister, put it in, seal, shake. Repeat, rinse.
