my dad was adopted from Korea as a baby into a white family. meaning I grew up with ZERO of the culture whatsoever. maybe he cannot speak on ALL of k-pop stans but I have witnessed and experienced the k-pop “fetish” first hand.
my brother gets it the worst because he is a korean male. the number one comment he receives is that he “looks like he belongs to BTS”. I cannot tell u the number of girls that have OBSESSED and STALKED him only because he has the look of their fav K-pop Star.

Kpop is a valid & respectable genre in & of itself but ppl in the u.s. are fetishing east asians, a problem that’s always existed, so kpop itself isn’t to blame. The corps knowingly exploiting theyre young artists in this way r tho & stans are supporting/funding it & not caring
