My mom is an addict as well. And you're right they have to want it. But there's so many people who will be hateful and nasty and refuse to help when they ask for it.

people who make out to be such advocates for mental health are the same people who talk shit about addiction, any type of addiction is fucking life ruining and people need support, addiction isn’t a choice and i think people forget that

it isn’t that easy. a lot of insurance companies will not cover extended stays at a rehab and often times those affected by addiction don’t have the money to cover their own stay. there truly isn’t much a friend, spouse, or family member can do to stop someone who doesn’t want to

That's true they have to want the help. But a lot of government agencies do have places where they pay for it you just gotta put in the work it's rough. I was lucky I couldn't stop work for long and my insurance let me do an outpatient treatment therapy that I still go to
