As someone who was raised on a farm in the Thumb who comes from a big family of hunters — I’ve always thought my message of support for the 2nd Amendment AND the absolute need to have common-sense reform was something that we could all unite behind.

Back in the Spring, I walked with teachers, parents, and amazing high school student in the MARCH FOR OUR LIVES in Port Huron and was moved to tears when I heard the stories of how afraid kids are and how they all believe that SOMETHING has to be done to stop this madness.

That’s why I was so proud when I found out today that I was selected as a CANDIDATE OF DISTINCTION by the MOMS DEMAND ACTION group.

This group of courageous moms was first organized after the tragedy at Sandy Hook and then reached out to other parents also touched by tragedy across the country. They have become one of the most important and inspiring groups advocating for change in America.
