    Gatorade is a drink for both world class athletes and hungover drunks who don’t know how they got home last night. There’s no middle ground. Nobody is drinking Gatorade because their day was fine. You either brought home the state championship or woke up in a state prison.

    To do this story, The Washington Post flew me to Iowa, put me up in a hotel for nearly a week and funded my meals. That all cost money. I hope you'll consider spending a few bucks to subscribe to The Post. Journalism's expensive work, and we need readers to chip in when they can.
