That trauma does not come from ignorance but from lived experience. Instead of downplaying the trauma, as news media did during the 2018 elections, news org should empathize and try to understand what's behind those fears.

Whatever is happening with the Cuban-American vote in FL, some of the causes are not in this country, but in Cuba. The fear of socialism/communism among the Cuban-American community is real and has tangible causes. There is a real trauma, not an imaginary one.

As a former news leader, I wanted so much to have access to resources like this in my home country, Cuba. I'm glad US & Canada independent publishers are getting this support. I've seen, first-hand, what a difference it makes.
