Hi Elad , the virus is called 2019-nCov. Not an expert in virology, but I think the cause of the outbreak is still unknown and the bat soup videos have been proved a misleading online meme.
@BeijingPalmer has a good grip on it https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/27/dont-blame-bat-soup-for-the-wuhan-virus/ … 1/n -
My point was less about Bat Soup per se, and more that eating wild mammals is likely to create more zoonotic events like this one. Bats in particular seem to have given us SARS, MERS, this new virus, as well as potentially being reservoirs for ebola and marburg viruses...

I thought SARs was from civets? Agree on limiting consumption of bats, buggy little ones.

I think that was the early hypothesis and then they found highly related viruses in wild bats. I think they know view SARS as bat virus with perhaps as well a jump into civets in a wild meat market. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6135831/ … Also attached is a blast.....pic.twitter.com/3myzHFan3D
