The DAO is an excellent solution to the non-existent problem of Kickstarter absconding with the funds.

Not true. #TheDAO generates owners, not customers. It's a new paradigm enabling decentralized ownership.

how's that different from investing in Kickstarter Inc, minus legal protection, plus algo protection?

Kickstarter backers get rewards, projects are founder owned. #TheDAO is operated by its members, token holders vote on decisions

and how is that any different from what I said? One invests in KS, other interests in projects through KS.

in case of KS it's a project. In cas of #TheDAO it's your project if you bought yourself in. You co-form it.

KS itself is a company, and has investors, analogous to DAO members. Main difference btw them is legal protection, it seems.

there's no decentralization at KS whatsoever - a classic business orga. #TheDAO belongs to itself and is -run- by token holders

Indeed. I'd add that the algorithmic limits on fees/overhead/reward redistribution may be appealing to some.

the unbanked angle is overplayed. they have day-to-day worries that are far more basic than participating in kickstrtr
