This is a terrible tragedy and awful end to a brutal year. It is a system failure that resulted in irreversible harm to two families. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. We will hold the man who did this accountable. We will support the families of the victims

The replies here infuriate me. This is a tragedy, and I believe your approach of accountability for the crime and support for the victims families is spot on. To everyone questioning the circumstances, do you realize the role of the DA in our over-incarcerated system?

The replies infuriate you? And the crimes and carnage - any thoughts on those? “Support” for the victims’ families rings hollow now as does his approach to “accountability”, don’t you think? Why does he get to use our city’s population as pawns in his radical experiments?

Of course the crimes infuriate me as well. I lost a friend to gun violence this year in SF. Pinning the blame on one elected official is not a productive way to grieve. I want accountability, and I *also* want the system to be improved so people don't turn to crime.

He didn’t “turn to crime” he was drunk and high as a kite and barreled through a red light. That’s not crime, that’s gross negligence

ok sweetheart. it’s a criminal act and that’s why it is being charged in the criminal system.
