Today feels like an important day to share that I take antidepressants, and do believe they have helped keep me alive at times. I'm a firm believer in the importance of personal choice when it comes to treatment, but I love my pills and I am proud of myself for taking them.

I hope and pray that sad lit fanboys won’t glamorize Anthony Bourdain’s death the way they glamorized the suicides of Hunter S Thompson/David Foster Wallace. There is nothing romantic or poetic about suicide. Not to the poor little girl who’s just lost her father.

Please give a hug to anyone you love who has a mental illness today. Tell them the world is a better place with them in it. They’re going to need to hear that this week.

If you're reporting on Kate Spade today, please know how triggering this news is to anyone who struggles with depression/suicidal ideation. Mental illness is a disease, not a weakness. Please be mindful of that and respectful of Ms. Spade's family/friends.

My best friend tore apart Jordan Peterson's book, and it is masterful (though I am ashamed to admit that I share Mr. Peterson's views of Elmo, who is nothing short of an abomination)
