I don't really get why people conflate good governance with the form of government.
Governments can be democratic and have good governance.
Governments can be tyrannical and have good governance.

In the short term, people care about good governance (are our lives getting better/societal problems being solved?)
In the long term, which system works for longer without entering a failure mode seems to depend on the mode of government.
And to be fair: a) may be trolling, plus b) whether China's model can/cannot work hasn't been empirically proven.
