My piece on effective hiring is on the top of Hacker News, so I guess the cat’s out of the bag and I have to invent a completely new way to hire.

In the piece I argue that all good hiring orgs on a budget converge on the same set of 4 principles. I think what’s interesting there is that I’m using an example from my own life that’s many many years old.

Have I been involved in hiring process design in the years since? Yes, I have. Am I going to talk about what market inefficiencies we’ve uncovered? No, absolutely the hell not.

Hiring is one of those aspects of business that when you find a secret you want to keep it for as long as is feasibly possible. And that applies to just about every company I know. So: principles, yes; precise tactics — give it 5 years, maybe. Or get me very drunk.
