I have a bunch of anecdotal examples of people who stop caffeine who report benefits after longer time, myself included. OTOH, people also stack caffeine with L-theanine, and report it works better.

People can have widely different sensitivity to caffeine too. Science may not be much better than bro science here. 90% of people in the western world are addicted to caffeine. Withdrawal harder than alcohol. It would be unethical and unpractical to stop for controlled exprmnt.
