Beware people who are very eager to shove their lessons down your throat.
Their lessons are not your lessons; you don’t necessarily have the scaffolding of experience to appreciate what they’ve learnt.
But also, more dangerously: they might have learnt the wrong lessons.

When have I shoved lessons down anyone’s throat? 😬
The wording was precisely chosen for a reason; saying “here’s what happened to me and what I learnt” is ok, instead of “I’ve learnt X and you should do X.”

I love the visual of scaffolding. It helps with recognizing the limits of giving and receiving advice. It also helps with empathy.
