Why are the only examples about linters? That's dishonest. Who objects to linters? How about the pedagogical utility of "View Source" today vs. 10 or 20 years ago? How often do novices have to grapple with the equivalent of "npm audit" today vs. 10 years ago?

I wasn't planning on this being a big thing, nor did I consider all the ways it would be interpreted, or I might have added some other examples.

Sure. So do the right thing and follow up with a discussion of how you learned vs. how people learn today. How often did you use View Source to figure out what was going on? How often did you look at a site's JS to see how they achieved a particular effect?

What is actually harder now and how do people compensate when it comes to learning? You say "you don't understand", but surely you're smart enough to engage with that question in a serious way.
