I took 1 class a decade ago, so I’m all bullshit but it strikes me the Tractatus-type “calculus” conception of language tries to turn language into a well-structured domain. Maybe this is why I keep telling kids Google’s “dictionary” of scraped definitions is a facade of meaning.

Today I learnt that early cognitive science was very influenced by late Wittgenstein and this terrifies me. (Mostly because it means that I’ll have to read and understand Wittgenstein, and … oh god please no).

I think so! The connection to CFT seems to be with late Wittgenstein, where concepts are only given meaning through use, or through practice.

Yes, then in my perhaps strained analogy, Early Witt -> Learn monolithic meanings of words. Late Witt -> Compare flexible uses of them.
