I think it's because it's such an easy way to "show progress" as opposed to actually doing the creative work.

Straight up facts. My toxic trait is that I look at the blogs of anybody who excessively tweets about PKM & writing. It’s amazing how often they’re near-empty

Deeply embarrassing when I spent my teen years trying to manually organize my music library and was also a genre snob ("is this dubstep or d&b or glitchpop") and then ended up just throwing them all into "electronic"
