Unfortunately, when people write down stories about... anything, they usually elide so many details that it's impossible to extract valid, meaningful tacit knowledge from them.
For example, most articles about software design use extremely simplified toy example code.

You’ll want to look at chapters 7, 9 and 10. 10 in particular is a collection of different domains that have successfully used this technique.

The property you’re describing is something called ‘cognitive fidelity’, as in ‘this simulation or case study has high cognitive fidelity to the real world task, and therefore leads to good skill transfer’.
I’ve yet to find a generalised explication of principles though.
