The big idea from the end of the book is The Tao, the perfect balance of order and chaos that defines emergence, and life itself. Taoism is exactly about the ability to see "the nature of the age" and flow with its emergent propensity, as Ced notes.

Beyond the place where many people get stuck conceptually is a crazy idea. That he Taoist sage, co-creating with the complex adaptive system, alters the flow subtly. But with potentially massive downstream impact: the butterfly in a typhoon.

That paper is so worth the paywall. The book much less so. But the gorgeousness of chaos theory only now understanding that the Taoists were right is pretty awesome. On my share-once-a-week list is this absolute masterpiece from Daniel Schmachtenberger.
